“The China Story of Gen Z” photography competition, sponsored by the All-China Esperanto Association (ACEA), will kick off soon and is looking for photography works from around the world.

The COVID-19 pandemic has hindered international passenger flow, but it could not inhibit memories and discoveries. This photography competition aims to promote the exchanges and cooperation between photography enthusiasts in China, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam and other countries and regions in Asia and the Pacific, for them to meet with friends and make new friends through photography, discover wonderful moments in their busy life and capture the wonderful world in their lenses.

The sponsor of this competition, the ACEA, is the only national Esperanto community organization in China. Over the years, it has made many beneficial attempts in promoting cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and foreign countries.

First, second and third prizes will be awarded to participants, and the first prize winner will receive a cash prize of 200 euros and a number of books. Award-winners will also be invited to the award ceremony and a roundtable themed on Chinese stories on December 22.

You are welcome to share with us photos (three at most, taken by yourself) of your travel, work, study, and life in China, or people and things related to China.

There’s no limit on the age and nationality of participants. The photos should be captioned (in Esperanto, English, Chinese, Korean, or Japanese). Stories behind each photo can be described in up to 300 words. Award-winners will be invited to an online China Story Roundtable.

Participation

1. Entries should be emailed as an attachment to redaktoro_de_chel@163.com;

2. The subject of your email should be “photography-competition+name (Foto-konkurso+nomo)”;

3. The email body should include the following information: an introduction to yourself, when and where the photo was taken, title of the entry, and a description of the photo in up to 300 words. You can explain the content of the work, what inspired you, your feelings or your connection to the theme. 

4. Submission deadline: 24:00, December 10, 2022, Beijing time.

Requirements

A. There’s no limit on the subject matter, but the photos should be clear and match the theme of “The China Stories of Gen Z.”

B. Please provide relevant information as required in your email. The works submitted without relevant information will be disqualified from the competition by the organizing committee. 

C. No more than three entries are accepted from one participant. If a participant submits more than three entries, the last three will be qualified for the competition.

D. The works must be original, and plagiarism is strictly prohibited. The entries infringing the copyright, portrait right, reputation right and other rights of others will be disqualified from the competition. The consequences of the infringements shall be borne by the participants themselves.

E. The entries should in principle be unprocessed photos. Deep processing such as matting and synthesis is prohibited (The entries with deep processing as determined by the judges will be disqualified from the competition).

F. No entries shall contain any content of violence, pornography, infringement of the privacy of others, and violation of relevant national laws and regulations.

G. The ACEA has the right to use the submitted entries for any non-profit purposes such as printing and communication.

H. The participants submitting relevant information and entries shall be deemed to have fully understood the content of this competition system and have promised to accept the constraints of this competition system. The final interpretation of this activity belongs to the ACEA.

After the submission deadline, each entry will be scored by the judge panel. 

2. Awards

This competition will set up 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 5 third prizes, and a number of excellent works awards.

First prize (1): €200+books

Second prize (2): €100+books

Third prize (5): €50+books

Excellent works award (several): Books

Note: According to the requirement of award-winners, the prizes can be awarded in renminbi, euro (overseas), or books of equivalent value.
