On March 7, 2022, the staff of Baoxing County Forestry Bureau (Baoxing Management and Protection Station of Giant Panda National Park) in Ya’an City, Sichuan Province, found a group of precious pictures taken by the No. 6 camera where a female panda and her child entering the tree cave to rest. The camera, set in the Mahuanggou area of Baoxing County in the national park, captured that the cute and chubby cub followed the mother closely into the cave.
The researchers of the forestry bureau identified that the cub was about half year old, and the pictures of the baby and the mother have already been taken by the No.8 camera at the night on January 12, 2022.
With an altitude of about 2500-3800 meters, the Malonggou area of Baoxing County in the Giant Panda National Park is located in the core protection area of the park. Water and the arrow bamboo, the food of giant pandas, are abundant here, making the place a suitable habitat for the precious animal.
Since October 2021, the cameras in this area have photographed the mother and child of giant pandas for five times, and shoot pictures of giant pandas more than 30 times. In addition, the cameras also took pictures of 21 kinds of animals related to giant pandas such as foxes, lesser pandas (red pandas), Crossoptilon crossoptilon and blood pheasants. It fully reflects the effectiveness of Baoxing County’s wildlife protection on the protection of the flagship species of giant pandas, and showcases the beauty of biodiversity in the Baoxing area of the Giant Panda National Park.
