As a guest country of honor of the second China International Import Expo (CIIE), Thailand introduced a yellow, red and white exhibition pavilion with upturned eaves to communicate the nation’s enthusiasm about enhancing business cooperation with China.

China is the biggest trading partner and most important trade market for Thailand. Jurin Laksanawisit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, revealed that attendees from the country would showcase instant foods such as dried mangoes and durians alongside some light-industry consumer products. The country will also highlight innovative agricultural and constructional products as well as items and services related to transportation, logistics, digital connections and tourism provided by a website called Thaitrade.com, a Thailand B2B E-Marketplace established by the Department of International Trade Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) Thailand.

A standout among participating Thai enterprises has been Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group), established in 1921. Most Chinese became familiar with the company through a popular Chinese television program called “The Chia Tai Variety Show.” For the second CIIE this year, the CP Group reserved an exhibition booth covering 500 square meters, larger than any other booth in the exhibition area for food and agricultural products. CP Group and its 12 subsidiaries are showcasing nearly 400 exhibits including poultry meat, seafood, snacks, instant foods, cubilose, rice and foods made of processed rice, condiments, instant Thai desserts, fruits, coffee and pet foods. As a representative enterprise of Thailand’s industry integration of agricultural and animal products, CP Group designed its booth to highlight the company’s mission to become “kitchen of the world” and the “energy provider for humanity.” The intertwined patterns and simple modern elements at the booth capture the appeal of the country while communicating an image of CP Group as an innovative, sophisticated and world-class food company.

According to the manager of the company’s exhibition at the CIIE, CP Group will continue to meet the demands of Chinese consumers by providing them with high-quality, safe and delicious foods while contributing to Thailand’s bilateral trade and pursuits for common development with China.
