With all various types of textiles in the world, Thai silk has long been known as one of the most prestigious and sought after among all textiles. Each piece of Thai silk is traditionally hand-woven with a unique signature that cannot be replicated through technology or by commercial means. Thai silk is therefore regarded as a precious Thai heritage symbolizing the richness of Thai culture.
The ‘celebration of silk’ event has been organized for 8 years and is in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s continuous contributions to the promotion of Thai silk locally and globally. This year, the 8th celebration of silk: Thai Silk Road to the world, is the first time that Thailand promotes this event in a larger scale. Thai silk is now available all over the world for fashion designers to tailor the silk in various styles for different cultures.
The number of participating countries in this event has increased from 25 to 48 nations, almost doubling in size from last year. The 8th celebration of silk: Thai Silk Road to the world was held on the 1st of December at Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at Central World, with grandly opening by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-chaof Thailand.
