On November 2nd, Huangpu International Financial Media and Think Tank Forum was opened in Guangzhou. At the opening ceremony, former French Prime Minister Dominique De Villepin was invited to give a keynote speech. He spoke highly of China’s achievements in the Reform and Opening up Policy, he is full of confidence in China’s development.
He said that the Chinese miracle is attributed to China’s pragmatic, comprehensive and ambitious strategy, which is dedicated to connecting China to the world. China’s opening up has brought a tremendous impact to domestic development and the global economy: from 1978 to 2018, China’s share of global GDP rose from 2% to more than 15%, and its annual growth rate before 2011 exceeded 10%. During this period, Chinese society has also achieved considerable development, 700 million people have been lifted out of poverty, and the middle class has continued to grow. China’s modernization is also reflected in spatial arrangements, that is, urban development: Today, 60% of China’s population lives in the city, while in 1980 this proportion was only 20%. Guangdong has gained rapid development due to the Reform and Opening up Policy, which makes us feel admired.
