Five Amazing Non-governmental Events from 2017 | ChinaASEAN

A large number of events took place under the principle of people-to-people communication between China and ASEAN in 2017.

Non-governmental exchanges began to take on more responsibility in enhancing bilateral ties between China and ASEAN.

Here are seven amazing events from 2017!

 

The First ASEAN-China Film Festival

The first ASEAN-China Film Festival was held in Malaysia from Dec. 1-4.

The festival has been established as a long-term exchange and cooperation platform for the ASEAN film industry in line with China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

A total of 29 films from China and ASEAN countries were screened during the festival.

 

China-ASEAN Youth Football Tournament

The “Soong Ching Ling Cup” China-ASEAN youth football tournament took place in Qinhuangdao, China on Aug. 7.

Youth football teams from China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia attended the tournament.

 

The 2nd China-ASEAN Youth Summit

The 2nd China-ASEAN Youth Summit kicked off at Peking University on Nov. 24.

The theme of this year’s event was “Embrace For Change, Gear Forward: Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN”.

Around 200 participants including students from ASEAN member states and China attended the summit.

 

The 5th China-ASEAN Drama Week

The 5th China-ASEAN Drama Week was held in Nanning, China from Sept. 6-12.

Forty classic plays performed by 24 groups from China and ASEAN were staged.

Since its launch in 2003, the China-ASEAN Drama Week has aimed to maintain friendship and facilitate cultural exchanges between China and ASEAN.

 

The 6th China-ASEAN Music Week

The 6th China-ASEAN Music Week was launched on May 25 in Nanning, China.

The CAMW has become one of three music platforms focused on China’s modern music creation and exhibition.

 

2017 China-ASEAN International Touring Assembly

The 2017 China-ASEAN Journalists Rally and the 2017 China-ASEAN International Touring Assembly kicked off on Dec. 11 in Hepu, Guangxi.

For the first time in its 11-year history, the route of the event will cover China and all 10 ASEAN countries, making it one of the longest international rally races in the region.

 

2017 China-ASEAN Mountain Marathon

The 2017 China-ASEAN Mountain Marathon began in Nanning, China on Nov. 5.

Over 1,000 elite runners participated in the event.
